Hardwood & tile flooring

Hardwood & Tile Flooring on Long Island

Floors take more abuse than any other surface in the house. We choose materials with you, prepare the base properly and install them to last.

A good floor starts below the surface.

The right flooring depends on the room. Hardwood brings warmth to living areas and bedrooms. Tile is the practical choice for bathrooms, entries and laundry rooms. Kitchens can go either way. We’ll help you choose based on how the space is used, not just how a sample looks.

Whatever you choose, the installation starts with the subfloor. Flat, solid and properly prepared, so tile doesn’t crack and wood doesn’t squeak or gap.

Tile floors

Pattern, scale and layout.

Hardwood

Warmth you can walk on.

Hardwood suits living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and open plans. We’ll help you weigh solid against engineered, plank width, species and finish, and how each will handle your household: kids, pets, sunlight and the occasional spill.

Installation is about consistency: acclimated material, a flat base, tight and even joints, and clean transitions at doorways, stairs and tile.

Heated floors

Comfort through the winter.

Radiant floor heat makes a tiled bathroom or kitchen comfortable on cold mornings. It’s installed under the finished floor during the renovation, so it’s worth deciding on early.

Not every flooring product is suited to radiant heat, especially some hardwoods. We confirm the flooring and heating system are compatible according to their manufacturers before recommending them together.

FAQ

Flooring questions

Don’t see your question? Send us a note and we’ll get back to you.

Should I choose hardwood or tile for my kitchen?

Both work. Hardwood is warmer underfoot and flows well into adjoining rooms; tile handles water and heavy traffic with almost no maintenance. We’ll talk through how you use the kitchen and what’s in the rest of the house before recommending one.

Can hardwood go over radiant floor heat?

Some engineered products are designed for it; many solid hardwoods are not. Compatibility depends on the specific flooring and heating system, so we check the manufacturers’ requirements before recommending a combination. Tile is the most straightforward choice over radiant heat.

Why does subfloor preparation matter so much?

Most flooring failures start underneath: cracked tile over a flexing subfloor, squeaks and gaps in wood over an uneven base. Preparing the subfloor properly is the difference between a floor that looks good on day one and one that still looks good years later.

Do you install flooring on its own, or only as part of a remodel?

Both. We install flooring as part of kitchen, bathroom and basement projects, and as a standalone job. There’s no project minimum.
